💰What Field Service Software Actually Costs in 2026 (Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan Compared)

The sticker price is the smallest number on the bill. Here's the real math for a solo operator, a 3-person crew, and a 10-person shop.

The sticker price is the smallest number on the bill. Here's the real math for a solo operator, a 3-person crew, and a 10-person shop.

Published July 2026. Pricing changes constantly, so every number below is dated and linked - check our work.

The short answer

In 2026, a solo operator pays about $348–$1,788 a year for Jobber and $708–$948 for Housecall Pro, before payment processing fees. A 3-person crew pays roughly $1,000–$2,500 on either. ServiceTitan doesn't publish prices; user reports put it at $245–$398 per technician per month, plus setup fees of $5,000–$50,000. ToolBerry is $0.

That's the summary. The rest of this post is the math behind it - because the monthly plan price is only where the bill starts.

If you're still deciding which app fits you at all, start with our honest comparison of the best free field service apps in 2026. This post assumes you're past that and asking the next question: what will this actually cost me over a year?

Why the sticker price isn't the price

Every field service platform advertises its cheapest possible number: the lowest tier, one user, billed annually up front. Almost nobody pays that. The real bill is:

Base plan + extra seats + payment processing + add-ons + setup fees + whatever it costs to leave.

We'll walk through each, with 2026 numbers pulled from the vendors' own pricing pages where they exist, and from user reports where they don't.

Jobber Grow"$149/mo"$199$1,788

Sources: Jobber pricing, Housecall Pro pricing, both checked July 2026. ServiceTitan publishes no prices (their pricing page shows "Request Pricing" buttons); estimates compiled from user reports in Projul's 2026 analysis.

Two things worth knowing about that table:

The advertised price requires paying a year up front. Jobber's "$29/mo" Core plan is the prepaid-annual rate. Month-to-month is $49. There's also a third lane most buyers miss: commit for a year but pay monthly, and Core is $39. Same product, three prices, spread of 69%.

ServiceTitan mostly won't sell to you at this size. It's enterprise software built for shops with dispatchers. One Reddit user summed up the pricing culture: "First rule about ServiceTitan is never talk about the cost of ServiceTitan" (March 2023).

What does a 3-person crew pay?

This is where per-seat pricing kicks in, and where the platforms diverge.

Jobber charges $29/month for every user past the first. Core for three people runs $87/month billed annually ($1,044/year). Grow, the tier with job costing and automations, runs $207/month ($2,484/year). Jobber also sells team bundles at 5, 10, and 15 seats that can beat the per-seat math - worth asking about.

Housecall Pro doesn't sell extra seats on its Basic plan at all. Basic is one user, full stop. Your first hire forces you onto Essentials at $149/month annual ($189 month-to-month) - a jump of $90/month, or about $1,080 a year, for one additional person. Essentials then covers you up to five users with no per-seat fee, which is genuinely good value at exactly five. (Housecall Pro pricing; structure detailed in Projul's HCP breakdown.)

ServiceTitan at three techs runs an estimated $735–$1,500/month ($8,800–$18,000/year) based on the per-tech reports above. One HVAC operator on Reddit reported paying "just under $300" per technician and said "we increased our service call by $10 per call to cover the cost" (April 2020). That's the honest way to think about software pricing: it comes out of your customers or it comes out of you.

ToolBerry has no per-seat pricing because it has no seats to meter. More on why below.

3-person crew, per yearCheapest realisticMid tier
Jobber$1,044 (Core, annual)$2,484 (Grow, annual)
Housecall Pro$1,788 (Essentials, annual)$1,788 (same - covers 5 users)

ToolBerry$0$0

The costs that don't show up on the pricing page

Payment processing

All three platforms want to process your card payments, and the rates are similar: Jobber charges 2.9% + $0.30 for online card payments, 2.7% + $0.30 in person, and 1% for ACH (Jobber payments pricing). Housecall Pro advertises rates "as low as 2.59%". ServiceTitan's integrated payments run around 2.9% + $0.30 per user reports.

Run the number on your own revenue. If $100,000 of your annual work gets paid by card through the platform, that's roughly $2,900 a year - likely more than your subscription. It's the biggest line item nobody budgets for.

To be clear about our side: ToolBerry doesn't process card payments at all today. You generate the invoice in ToolBerry and collect however you already do - which also means nobody takes 2.9% off the top.

Setup and onboarding

Jobber and Housecall Pro onboard you for free (dedicated onboarding comes with their top tiers). ServiceTitan is a different animal: implementation fees reported between $5,000 and $50,000, with rollouts running 3–6 months or longer (Projul, 2026). A December 2024 Better Business Bureau complaint reads: "We have NEVER BEEN ONBOARDED. At this point, we have currently paid for 1 year of ServiceTitan even though we do not use the software."

Contracts and the cost of leaving

Jobber and Housecall Pro run month-to-month or optional annual billing; you can cancel, though prepaid annual plans aren't refunded early. ServiceTitan requires contracts - typically 12 months minimum, often 3 years. The exit numbers get ugly: Reddit users report cancellation costs over $50,000 on 3-year contracts, and a May 2025 BBB complaint describes a landscaping company offered a $39,375 buyout after ten days of being unable to use the software (both via Projul's analysis).

Price increases

Cloud pricing is a dial the vendor controls. A ServiceTitan customer reported the company "recently upped our price to $349 per user" - on software their business already depended on. When your customer list, job history, and schedule live on a vendor's servers, a price increase isn't really a choice; it's a toll on your own data. We haven't found comparable public complaints about Jobber or Housecall Pro raising prices in 2024–2026, which is worth crediting.

What happens to your data if you stop paying

Ask this before you sign anything. On any cloud platform, canceling means your access to years of job history, customer records, and invoices depends on their export tools and their retention policy. One long-time ServiceTitan customer described struggling to get their data exported on the way out after ten years on the platform.

ToolBerry is built the other way around: your data lives in a database on your device and backs up to your own Dropbox. There's no subscription to lapse and no server to lose access to. Export is one tap, any time, no phone call.

The 10-person shop, for completeness

10 users, per yearRealistic annual cost
Jobber Grow (1 + 9 seats, annual)~$4,920 (team bundles may beat this)
Housecall Pro MAX (8 incl. + 2 × $35)~$4,428
ServiceTitan (est. $245–$500/tech)est. $29,000–$60,000 + setup
ToolBerry$0 today - but read the next section

At this size the paid platforms start earning their bill: dispatch boards, real-time team sync, payroll integrations. If you're here, you're comparing Jobber and ServiceTitan on features, not price - and honestly, ToolBerry's free tier isn't built for a 10-truck operation yet.

Where ToolBerry fits, honestly

ToolBerry is a free, offline-first field service management app for small service-trade businesses. The whole app - unlimited customers, jobs, invoices, custom fields, offline everything - is $0, with no user cap, no trial clock, and no account required. That's not a promotion. Our free tier is a static app with your data in a database on your device, so a free user costs us close to nothing. We explained the mechanics in the free apps comparison if you want the technical version.

What we don't do, so you're not surprised:

  • No card processing. You invoice from ToolBerry and collect payment however you do now. No 2.9% cut, but also no "pay online" button - yet.
  • No real-time multi-user sync today. The free tier backs up through your own Dropbox. A crew sharing one live schedule across phones is what our paid tiers are being built for.
  • Paid tiers are coming, and we'll say exactly what they cost when they exist. The plan: free stays free for solo operators and small crews forever, and you pay only when you need the thing that actually costs us money to run - multi-device and multi-user sync. Pricing isn't final; if that's what you need, ask us and we'll tell you what's on the way rather than sell you a promise.

If you need integrated payments, done-for-you marketing, or a dispatch board for a big crew today, Jobber, Housecall Pro, or ServiceTitan are the honest answers, at the prices above.

How to budget for this in ten minutes

  1. Take the annual-billing price, not the advertised one, and multiply by your real headcount.
  2. Add payment processing: your annual card-paid revenue × ~2.9%. This is usually the biggest number.
  3. Ask about setup fees and contract length before the demo, in writing.
  4. Ask what data export looks like on the day you cancel. If the answer is vague, so is your ownership of your own business records.
  5. Compare that total against what the software saves you. For a lot of solo operators, the honest answer is that $0 plus a good free tool covers it.
