Is ToolBerry really free?
Yes. The free tier covers everything a solo operator or small crew needs: jobs, scheduling, customers, work orders, photos, invoicing. No time limits, no feature gates, no credit card.
How does ToolBerry stay free?
The app is free, and stays free. DandCode (the team behind ToolBerry) is bootstrapping the product while we figure out the right paid add-ons; nothing on this page is locked behind a paywall.
Do you charge per crew member?
No. Add as many techs as you want. The free tier is the whole app, and additional seats don't change that.
Will ToolBerry become paid later?
Yes — we're getting ready for a bigger launch with paid plans. They'll layer new capabilities on top of what's here today. Anything that's free now stays free.
How does offline mode actually work?
ToolBerry stores your data in a local database on each device. Every feature works with airplane mode on. When you're back in range (or on Wi-Fi at the yard), devices can optionally reconcile with each other. Nothing syncs without you enabling it.
Where is my customer data stored?
On your device. There is no cloud mirror unless you opt into the sync add-on. If you reset your phone, you'll lose what's local unless you've exported a backup.
Is my data encrypted on-device?
Yes. ToolBerry's local database uses the device's file-level encryption (iOS Data Protection, Android Keystore). On a locked device, the data is at rest and encrypted.
What if I switch phones?
Export your full data as an encrypted backup file. Install ToolBerry on the new device, import the backup. Nothing transfers via our servers.
How long does setup take?
Most pros are logging their first job within 10 minutes. Pick a trade, add a customer, log the job — you fine-tune as you go.
Does ToolBerry work for solo operators?
Solo operators are the primary audience. The whole design assumes one phone, one truck, one full day's work. If you're a team of one, you're who we built it for.
What if I run multiple trades?
Create job types per trade (e.g., plumbing + handyman). Each has its own checklist and custom fields but lives in the same app.
Does it support crews with helpers?
Yes. Assign jobs to crew members, control what access each one sees (e.g., hide gate codes from non-owners), and reconcile progress offline.
Can I collect customer signatures?
Yes. Signatures are captured on-device at work-order close, saved to the order, and rendered into the invoice PDF.
