ToolBerry Pro vs Workiz

Workiz is built around the phone: a dialer, a call queue and an AI answering service sit at the center of the product, and for a shop that lives on inbound calls that is a real advantage. ToolBerry Pro is built around the job. The clearest differences are that Workiz no longer publishes prices or offers a free plan, and that its offline support, like everyone else's, stops at the mobile app.

Quick verdict

If your business runs on inbound phone calls, Workiz's built-in phone system and AI answering are things we do not attempt, and that may settle it. Two things to weigh against that. Workiz removed its free Lite plan and now shows "Request pricing" on every tier, so you cannot compare cost without a sales conversation and a 7-day trial. And its offline support is mobile-only, so an outage at the office still stops the office. ToolBerry Pro is one published-on-request price per business, and the same local database runs on desktop and phone.

The short version

Three differences a feature table can't show

Priced per business, not per seat

One price covers your whole crew. Hiring tech number 11 changes your schedule, not your software bill. Service Fusion is the one vendor here that does the same, and their page says so.

Offline everywhere, not just on the phone

Several of these products have real offline in their mobile app. What none of them has is the office: ToolBerry runs the same local database on desktop too, so a dropped connection at the shop is as harmless as a basement with no bars.

Free forever underneath, no trial clock

Not one of the six has a free tier. ToolBerry Free is a full product your crew can run real jobs on today, and Pro is the layer you add when the team features are worth paying for.

Where ToolBerry Pro is the better fit

You can find out what it costs

Workiz's pricing page lists Standard, Pro and Ultimate, and every one of them says "Request pricing". The free Lite plan is gone. That means a demo before you can compare. We ask you to tell us your team size and needs, and we send a real number within one business day, with no obligation and nothing to sit through.

Offline that includes the office

Workiz's offline support is a mobile-app feature, which is the industry norm and works well enough in a truck. It does not help the person running dispatch when the shop's connection drops. ToolBerry runs the same real database on desktop and phone, so the office keeps working too and catches up on reconnect.

The gear side is built in

Tools and equipment with serial numbers and barcodes, who has what, transfers between locations with a bill of lading, rentals with their own lifecycle, and QR or thermal labels you print yourself. It is all part of Pro rather than a separate module, and it works offline like everything else.

Where Workiz is stronger

Workiz's phone system is the real thing and we do not compete with it. A built-in dialer, a call queue, call recording and an AI answering service that picks up in English or Spanish add up to a genuine advantage for a shop whose growth is limited by missed calls. If the bottleneck in your business is the phone ringing out, that is a category of problem ToolBerry does not solve at all, and Workiz solves it well.

Schedule a demo

Choose ToolBerry Pro if…

  • You want to know the price before you sit through a demo.
  • The office needs to keep working when the connection does not.
  • You track tools, equipment or rentals and want that in the same system.
  • Your growth is limited by field work, not by missed calls.

Choose Workiz if…

  • Inbound calls are your lead flow and you want the phone system built in.
  • AI call answering would pay for itself this quarter.
  • Call recording and a dispatch call queue are non-negotiable.

Whichever way you go: your crew already knows ToolBerry if they've used the free app, going Pro is a login, not a migration. And the pilot guarantee covers your exit costs if we're wrong for you.

Pricing, plainly

ToolBerry Pro

ToolBerry Pro is priced per business, not per seat. Tell us your size and needs and we will send a straight answer within one business day. ToolBerry Free stays free forever underneath it, which matters here because Workiz retired its free tier.

Workiz

Workiz does not publish prices. Standard, Pro and Ultimate each show "Request pricing", the free Lite plan is no longer offered, and there is a 7-day trial. Add-ons such as the phone system and SMS credits are billed on top (workiz.com/pricing-plans, read August 2026).

Prices change, and unpublished prices change quietly. Ask them directly.

Switching from Workiz

The honest advice first: if you moved to Workiz for the phone system, do not switch on our account. If you moved for job management and the phone side is incidental, run one crew on ToolBerry Pro for a few weeks alongside it. Your techs will recognize the app if they have used ToolBerry Free, and everything you enter is exportable from day one.
